Lightning Planet began with light.

In 2020, we started WNeon, creating custom neon signs for local businesses and families. Each sign was made to bring warmth, personality, and a sense of place into real spaces. Through this work, we learned something important — people don’t just want products. They want feeling, meaning, and connection.

Then the world changed.

As online shopping grew, many local businesses struggled. We saw how difficult it became to compete on price and speed alone. That’s when we asked ourselves a simple but powerful question:

What is something online shopping can never replace?

The answer was clear:
being there, making something with your hands, and sharing a moment together.

So in 2023, Lightning Planet was born.

We imagined a place where children could slow down, use their hands, and turn ideas into real creations. A place where families could spend time together, not rushing — but creating. Here, children don’t just buy things. They design, build, decorate, and express who they are.

Our first store opened in Melbourne’s CBD. Then came Southland. With each space, we learned how powerful creativity can be when it’s accessible, welcoming, and joyful.

In 2025, our journey expanded again. We introduced creative products like T-shirts and bags, not as items to sell, but as blank canvases — waiting for a child’s imagination to bring them to life.

Now, we are preparing for our next chapter.

In 2026, Lightning Planet will grow into a 400sqm flagship space, our biggest step yet. A place dedicated to creative workshops, parties, free community craft activities, and thoughtfully curated lifestyle products. A place designed to teach children not just how to make things, but how to think creatively and live creatively.
